WES History
The original design of the successful
WES18 wind turbine is from the Dutch wind turbine pioneer Henk Lagerwey more
than 25 years ago. In 2003 Lagerwey was the last Dutch wind turbine
manufacturer that went out of business, due to changes in Dutch grants
regulations. In 2004 Wind Energy Solution (WES) bought the exclusive rights,
drawings and engineering files in order to give this unique turbine a second
life cycle in specific niche markets. Where the original Lagerwey LW 18/80 wind
turbine was installed mainly with farmers in The Netherlands, WES changed the
control system and power conversion with modern remote monitored technology and
continued to develop, support and sell this successful wind turbine in each
continent under the name WES18.
The typical two-bladed
rotor has an unique hinged system and a passive blade angle
adjustment. This unique, robust mechanism guarantees a high efficiency and
needs simple and little maintenance. The WES18 has proven to be a
durable, reliable high performance wind turbine. The first turbines have been
around since 1983, are still going strong and generate energy for their owners.
The typical box shaped blue nacelle of the WES18 was designed in the early 80's
of last century. Over 600 units of the WES 18 wind turbine have been installed
around the world at (agricultural) businesses, universities, islands, small
communities and at coastal and mountainous sites. |
